I loved that this book was about being in love, about being with someone with whom you share memories and traditions. I have read tons of books about falling in love, but the magic of being in love and comfortable in a relationship, that is a story line we don't often enough, especially when it involes a young couple like Jesse and Deven.
I also liked that this story is not about coming out, but wondering if the family who says they accept you as you are, really does 100%. Jesse's need to overcome this second hurdle and the insecurities that come with it was well developed even in such a short story. The author also did a beautiful job of addressing the delicate balance of being yourself and maintaining who you are while fitting into a larger dynamic. A situation that plays out over and over again for all of us in all sorts of relationships.
I look forward to the rest of this series. Although I am pretty sure this book was setting us up for a story about Clint, this was one of those rare cases where I didn't mind the set up. It synthesized nicely with the story being told and Clint's situation wasn't just thrown in as a tease for book 2. I also hope to get a lot more of Jesse and Deven. I love them already.
